The White House on Thursday confirmed that what appears to be a recurring bruise on Trump’s hand is indeed the result of a medical condition.

The White House said on Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump is experiencing swelling in his lower legs and bruising on his right hand, after photographs emerged of Trump with swollen ankles and makeup covering the afflicted part of his hand.

But on Thursday afternoon, the White House admitted that there’s a little more going on than some extraordinarily vigorous greetings. Leavitt said that after noticing mild swelling in his legs in recent weeks, Trump underwent a “comprehensive examination, including diagnostic vascular studies.”

The White House says bruising on his hands is consistent with damage from frequent handshakes while taking aspirin.

The order would be one of several expected to be released outlining the president’s vision for winning the AI race with China.
