President Donald Trump has approved federal public assistance for the April flooding and May tornadoes that struck Kentucky.
FEMA announced in April that it was ending the funding to eliminate “waste, fraud and abuse.” The program saved taxpayers more than $150 billion over 20 years, the plaintiffs said.
The administration supported search and rescue operations in Kerr County, Texas, after at least 120 people died and dozens went missing in deadly floods.
Colorado joined a lawsuit with 19 other states to force the administration to restore a program started under the first Trump administration.

Almost since Trump took office, the court’s emergency docket has been packed with appeals from his administration. For a while, the justices were being asked to weigh in almost once a week as Trump pushed to lift lower court orders slowing his ambitious conservative agenda.
As Trump visits Texas to see the impact of last week’s deadly flash floods, the White House has backed away from plans to abolish FEMA, officials said.
