Larry Ellison dropped out of college before co-founding what eventually grew into one of the world’s biggest tech companies. The fortune he amassed propelled him to the ranks of the uber-rich, and in July he eclipsed Mark Zuckerberg to become the world’s second-wealthiest person.

With an increase of $59 billion in wealth this year, Oracle's Larry Ellison has overtaken Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg as the world's second-richest person.

Ellison also amended his Giving Pledge to focus resources on his Oxford-based institute tackling healthcare, hunger, and climate change.
