The Texas Hill Country floods have impacted families from all over the country, including Marco Acosta and his relatives, who experienced the disaster’s aftermath in different locations.
Even as the number of missing people in the Central Texas flash floods drops to as few as three, recovery efforts in the Hill Country are expected to take months. Texas Motor Speedway raised $25,000 through a recent drive-in charity event to support affected families.
The Texas Legislature is scheduled to convene Monday for a special session, which now includes flood-related issues.

The Moody Center will hold a benefit concert Aug. 17 in support of The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and Central Texas Community Foundation.
Thomas Owen, a recent high school graduate from North Texas, has a niece who was rescued from Camp Mystic during the Texas Hill Country flooding on July 4. Owen is now joining the relief efforts by way of holding a benefit concert.
