Intel is laying off hundreds of employees in various roles at its Folsom campus, according to a notice filed with the state of California.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan warned in April that the quest for efficiency would be accompanied by painful job losses. The semiconductor company had previously disclosed its intentions to cut 20% of its global workforce, which would equate to 21,000 workers worldwide.

Over the past three weeks, Intel has reported roughly 572 layoffs at its facility in Folsom, according to a state report. In June, the chip maker filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) that it would be laying off 54 people in Sacramento County.
