Twenty Democratic-led states filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Federal Emergency Management Agency, challenging the elimination of a long-running grant program that helps communities guard against damage from natural disasters.

The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency must release months-overdue funding notices for security grants that help cities, ports, synagogues and other entities prevent terrorist threats, Democratic Senator Andy Kim said in a letter sent to the Trump administration on Wednesday.

ENC cities and counties including Greenville, New Bern, Onslow County and Bertie County were set to receive a significant amount of funding.
