Alabama's defense is as deep and talented as we've seen in a while despite one crazy stat coming out of the All-SEC selections by the media.
The event dates to 1985, meaning the Crimson Tide broke a four-decade streak. Alabama did have wide receiver Ryan Williams and Kadyn Proctor on the first-team offense, but no first-team defensive players for the first time in the event’s history.
Milroe played four seasons with Alabama, working his way up to sixth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2023. The senior threw for 2844 yards in 2024 to accompany 20 rushing touchdowns. He was drafted in the third round of this year’s NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
The media also voted on player's to make the preseason All-SEC teams. Alabama was among the programs who had the most standouts selected to this elite field with 11. Years ago, two high school quarterbacks attended a summer camp at Alabama. One was Gunner Stockton, and the other was Ty Simpson. The former ended up committing to Georgia, where he’s now a redshirt junior.
