The Trump administration said it would release more than $1 billion in federal funding for after-school programs that had been paused.

President Donald Trump’s administration on July 1 withheld more than $6 billion in federal grants for after-school and summer programs, adult literacy and English language instruction, part of a review to ensure spending aligned with the White House’s priorities.

The White House said on Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump is experiencing swelling in his lower legs and bruising on his right hand, after photographs emerged of Trump with swollen ankles and makeup covering the afflicted part of his hand.

Karoline Leavitt read a doctor’s letter about President Donald Trump that she said was intended to dispel health concerns about the swelling in his ankles and a makeup-covered hand.

Leavitt said Trump noted "mild swelling in his lower legs," which prompted the White House medical team to evaluate him. They concluded that Trump has chronic venous insufficiency -- a condition in which there isn't adequate blood flow in the veins in the legs. This can cause the blood to pool, causing swelling in the lower legs.
