The second-year big man out of Duke turned in a stellar performance for the Utah Jazz against the Charlotte Hornets. Filipowski took over the starring role with Ace Bailey out due to a hip flexor. Filipowski totaled 32 points, six rebounds and five assists in the defeat to Kon Knueppel and the Hornets.
Along with Bailey, Jazz second-round pick John Tonje (right ankle sprain) and two-way signee, RJ Luis (left knee soreness), have also been ruled out for Friday night, both of whom missed Utah's first three games in Salt Lake City.
The Charlotte Hornets opened their 2025 Summer League schedule with a win over the Utah Jazz, 111-105.
According to ESPN, it “is not Utah's intention” to trade Markkanen, in spite of their forward-looking moves this offseason. “It would be too much to describe Markkanen as untouchable, but the Jazz still project the All-Star forward as a key player in their future core,” ESPN's insiders wrote.
