It was supposed to be different for the New York Knicks after bringing in talent like Karl-Anthony Towns. However, it looks like the team is still not a major threat.

New York drops to 0-5 against the East's top two teams, the Celtics and Cavaliers, as they aim for a deep playoff run.

Karl-Anthony Towns landed awkwardly after a layup attempt in the 4th quarter with Boston up by 12. He limped over to the bench and then sprawled out in pain as trainers looked at him. He went back i nto the locker room shortly after to be further examined.

The Celtics now own a four-game lead over the Knicks and the head-to-head tiebreaker for the two-seed in the East (Boston still trails Cleveland by six games for the top seed). The two teams will square off one final time in the regular season when they meet at Madison Square Garden on April 8.

Sunday's 118-105 decision dropped them to 0-7 against the leading squads of the NBA (Boston, Cleveland, Oklahoma City) and their first instance of consecutive lost games since Jan. 3-6. A tense afternoon became downright horrifying when Karl-Anthony Towns limped to TD Garden's visitors' bench as Boston began its final push forward to victory.

The Celtics can comfortably put Holiday on Towns, allowing Porziņģis to guard whichever non-shooter the Knicks have on the floor, because he’s strong and an incredible post defender for his size. This makes New York’s top-notch offense stagnant. Only so many teams have guards/wings able to disrupt Towns (Oklahoma City is one of them).

Despite sitting third in the Eastern Conference with a strong 37-20 record, the Knicks have faltered against the NBA’s elite — a troubling trend with the playoffs looming.
