A new wildfire was reported today at 2:20 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has asked Congress to approve nearly $40 billion in aid to help the Los Angeles area recover from January’s devastating wildfires.

The fires killed more than two dozen people and destroyed or damaged more than 16,000 structures, charring an area bigger than Paris.
