It’s a little weird to talk about Framework “launching” a new laptop given it just makes the same machine over and over again. That, of course, is the point, since it’s building a fleet of modular, upgradeable and repairable machines that eliminate unnecessary e-waste.

Framework has announced a substantial upgrade for the Framework Laptop 13, highlighted by the powerful AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series and several notable refinements in and around the laptop’s chassis.

Today, repairable laptop maker Framework previewed the new Framework Laptop 12 — a smaller budget option — alongside a new version of its flagship Framework Laptop 13 with AMD’s recent Ryzen AI 300 series processors inside.

Framework will ship six- and eight-core Ryzen AI 300 processors on lower-end configurations, most likely the Ryzen AI 5 340 and Ryzen AI 7 350 that AMD announced at CES in January. These chips include integrated Radeon 840M and 860M GPUs with four and eight graphics cores, respectively.

Meanwhile customers who already have an older Framework 13 with a previous-gen Intel or AMD processor can purchase a new Framework Laptop 13 Mainboard with a Ryzen AI 300 series chip and use it to upgrade an existing laptop by giving it a new processor with Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics.
