Los Angeles Chargers fans weren’t sure what to expect when Jim Harbaugh accepted his new role as head coach. On one hand, Harbaugh was coming off a national championship with Michigan, but it was unclear what he could accomplish in the NFL.

Jim Harbaugh is adding another familiar face to his staff with the Los Angeles Chargers. The team is expected to hire former Michigan offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell as an offensive assistant, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz both reported Monday.

Campbell served on now-Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh's coaching staff during his time at Michigan, as an offensive assistant in 2022 and as quarterbacks coach in '23. According to Pelissero's report, he played a key role in the development of QB J.J. McCarthy on their way to the 2024 CFP National Championship.
