MapQuest Lets You Name The Gulf of Mexico Whatever You Want
MapQuest's service has also refused to change the Gulf of Mexico's name, despite Trump's executive order last month to rename it as the 'Gulf of America.'
MapQuest last week introduced the “ Gulf Map Generator ,” which allows users to rename the body of water themselves. The tool quickly got used for trolling Trump, with users rebranding it as the “Gulf of Obama,” the “Gulf of Joe Biden ,” the “Gulf of Insecurity” and more.
For the record, MapQuest.com still lists it as the Gulf of Mexico, while Google and Apple Maps have changed it to the Gulf of America. Some remembered the funny political moments that all seem like a distant dream now. MapQuest posted the same message on X, where people were equally tickled.
