I am puzzled by Donald Trump’s instinct to treat Russia as America’s equal (“Trump’s desire for a deal hands initiative to Putin”, Report, February 20). On all objective evidence, it patently isn’t. Russia’s nearest equivalent is Brazil and I don’t see President Trump treating President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the way he treats Vladimir Putin.
