Pennsylvania man imprisoned in Russia returns to Pittsburgh after release from prison, officials say
A Bulter County native who was imprisoned in Russia for more than three years is back in the Pittsburgh area. Officials confirm Marc Fogel landed at Pittsburgh International Airport late Tuesday afternoon. Fogel’s family also confirmed he’s back in Pittsburgh, saying that he’s happy to be back and is adjusting.
Pennsylvania teacher Marc Fogel, who was sentenced to 14 years in a Russian prison after being arrested with what he claimed was legally prescribed marijuana, has been freed and is heading back to the United States, the White House announced Tuesday.
In 2021, a teacher from Western Pennsylvania was arrested in Russia and had been detained in a prison ever since.
