The Scots are generally not fans of Mr. Trump, and protests are already planned. A group called “Stop Trump Scotland” said it is organizing a “festival of resistance” against Mr. Trump during the trip and has called on John Swinney, the first minister of Scotland, to decline to meet with him.

President Donald Trump will travel to Scotland as his family’s business prepares for the Aug_ 13 opening of a new golf course in Aberdeenshire billed as “the greatest 36 holes in golf.”

Scotland is the birthplace of Trump’s mother and a place where he owns two golf resorts. Yet he hasn’t always had a warm reception there.
