After six shutout innings, Skubal took a 1-0 lead into the seventh. A one-out double by Adolis Garcia and a single by Kyle Higashioka put the tying run at third. Skubal then won an eight-pitch battle to strike out Jonah Heim.

It was naturally a superb start by Tarik Skubal that resulted in a 2-1 Detroit Tigers win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday night that ended a season-worst six-game losing streak for the team with the best record in the major leagues.

Tarik Skubal is just about as consistent as they come. The Detroit Tigers' left-handed pitching superstar, and the reigning Cy Young Award winner in the American League, does something almost every time he takes the mound. Skubal did it again on Sunday Night Baseball against the Rangers, too.
