A Madrid court on Thursday fined former Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales €11,000 ($11,480) for kissing Spain player Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth against her will after the women's 2023 World Cup final.

Spanish soccer star Jenni Hermoso won a version of justice Thursday when Luis Rubiales, the former head of Spain’s soccer federation, was found guilty of sexual assault after kissing her forcibly on the lips on live TV following Spain’s Women’s World Cup win in 2023 in Australia.

Former Royal Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has been found guilty of kissing player Jennifer Hermoso without her consent. The former La Liga defender was also one of UEFA's vice-presidents before resigning in September 2023, following the scandal with Hermoso.

Spanish prosecutors had sought a prison sentence for former football chief Luis Rubiales, who last week insisted in court that he was absolutely sure Jenni Hermoso had consented before he kissed her.
