Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger will be on the injured list for the second time this season when the team resumes play after the All-Star break. Texas placed Burger on the 10-day IL on Wednesday because of a left quad strain.

The Texas Rangers placed first baseman Jake Burger on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a left quadriceps injury.

The Rangers made the decision place Burger on the IL on Wednesday because it allowed them to backdate the injury to Sunday. It means he would be eligible to return July 23 when the Rangers face the “Parts Unknown” Athletics. The Rangers could not wait any longer to make a move and get the benefit of the maximum backdate ability.
