Strong wind and thunderstorms knocked out power for tens of thousands of people across Western Oregon and Southwest Washington on Monday afternoon.

Strong winds with gusts between 50-60 were possible in the Seattle area Monday evening into early Tuesday morning.

Thousands are without power and outages are expected to rise Monday night as high winds roll in, meeting vulnerable trees in topsoil soaked by a weekend of rain.

Another round of heavy rains and gusty winds that could reach 60 mph in spots has moved into western Washington and is expected to peak Monday night. The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting moderate flooding for the Skokomish River near Potlatch and minor flooding for the Snoqualmie and Tolt rivers near Carnation and Snohomish River near Snohomish.
