TORONTO — New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Anthony Volpe has made “a few too many” fielding errors this season after the shortstop made his 12th miscue of the season in a 4-1 loss at Toronto. He’s now tied for most in the American League.

In that rookie campaign, Volpe became the Yankees’ first rookie shortstop to hit a grand slam, joined an elite group of fifteen MLB rookies to post at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases and finished eighth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.
