The family of an 11-year-old boy shot to death in a Minneapolis park is demanding prosecutors file murder charges against the suspected gunman.
Police, while investigating, found a man injured on the 4500 block of Lyndale Avenue North. Investigators say he had driven himself to that area after he was shot. The man was taken to the hospital with a "potentially life-threatening" injury, according to police.
A neighbor heard “cries for help” after a barrage of gunfire ripped through a Minnesota park and discovered 11-year-old Amir Lamar Atkins suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. “In a moment of crisis, his older brother’s love shone through as he carried Amir, seeking help,” family said in a GoFundMe.
The shootings unfolded over a 16-hour period Sept. 18, with two occurring near a homeless encampment. The two men killed were Roland Scott Little Owl, 20, and Robert Milton Brown, 39, both of Minneapolis.
