EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is testing out tinted contact lenses as training camp opens. He wore them Thursday under sunny skies after trying them out earlier in the week while working with the team’s rookies.

Justin Herbert has blue eyes. On Thursday, the Los Angeles Chargers QB's eyes were red, and that's how he plans to keep things all season long. Herbert shared with local media at Chargers training camp that he's wearing contact lenses that provide UV protection.

Justin Herbert is adopting new equipment this season in an effort to see the field better. Per ESPN's Kris Rhim, the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback will wear UV protection contact lenses to reduce the impact of the sun on his vision.
