A Delta Air Lines jet made an emergency landing in Atlanta Monday morning, evacuating passengers via slides on the runway, after haze or smoke filled the cabin, airline and federal officials said.

Delta Flight DL43 departed Los Angeles bound for Sydney, Australia, when smoke was detected in the gallery. The flight was forced to return to the airport, where it safely landed

A Delta Air Lines flight returned to Atlanta on Monday morning shortly after takeoff when the crew reported "possible smoke" in the aircraft, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, just two days after another Delta flight was diverted due to smoke on the plane.
