Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol has bought a home in Seattle, ending his 1,600-km jet commute from California amid new return-to-office rules.

Brian Niccol became Starbucks CEO in August 2024. He had a special travel setup that let him fly to Seattle on a corporate jet as long as he worked from the office at least three days a week. This arrangement matched the company’s then-flexible hybrid work policy.

Starbucks will increase its return to work mandate for corporate employees to four days a week — even as CEO Brian Niccol is allowed to work remotely from his California home after getting hired last year.
