Map: Snowfall totals for New England. Which towns hit the jackpot?
Yet another storm dropped significant snow on New England overnight. Some areas of southern New England saw over 9 inches, and we’re already looking ahead to another storm headed our way on Sunday into Monday that could bring an icy mess to the region.
The biggest snowfall totals were north and east of New York City, specifically Connecticut and parts of Long Island. This is where the storm primarily performed as expected, with totals of 7-9". Some of the highest snow totals recorded were 9.1" in New Fairfield, Connecticut, and 7.5" in Babylon, New York.
Heavier snowfall has been reported in Upstate New York, with 9.2 inches in Poughkeepsie and 10 in Pine Plains. For numerous counties, Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a disaster emergency due to "imminent danger to public transportation, utility services, public health, and public safety systems."
