Campbell served on now-Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh's coaching staff during his time at Michigan, as an offensive assistant in 2022 and as quarterbacks coach in '23. According to Pelissero's report, he played a key role in the development of QB J.J. McCarthy on their way to the 2024 CFP National Championship.

Jim Harbaugh is adding another familiar face to his staff with the Los Angeles Chargers. The team is expected to hire former Michigan offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell as an offensive assistant, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz both reported Monday.

Kirk Campbell worked with Jim Harbaugh on the Michigan football staff for two years. He was brought in as an offensive analyst for the 2022 season before being promoted to QB coach in 2023. Campbell worked with JJ McCarthy during both of those seasons and was on the staff during the 2023 national championship run.
