With the Texas legislatures special session underway, state lawmakers are working on a bill that would fund sirens and flood sensors in Kerr County.

Kerr County officials addressed the Fourth of July floods that killed dozens of people during a commissioners’ court meeting on Monday morning.

SAN ANTONIO (KABB/WOAI) — It’s been over two weeks since the floods in Kerr County claimed hundreds of lives. Mike Richards' cabin was swept away by the Guadalupe River, but he isn’t focusing on rebuilding now.

Search efforts in Kerr County have reduced the missing count to two after July Fourth floods, with one young girl and an adult man still unaccounted for.

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Generosity in the Brazos Valley helped give flood recovery efforts in Kerr County a boost with the help of one local realtor. Katie Ruffino has now made two trips to the flood-damaged region, bringing chainsaws, work gear, and other supplies, all funded by donations from Brazos Valley residents.

Less than 5% of homes in the county's FEMA floodplain had flood coverage, well below the national average. Uptake was even worse in other areas that flooded.

In the last nine years, federal funding for a system has been denied to the county as it contends with a tax base hostile to government overspending.

FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) - A Bell County mother and daughter performed search and rescue operations on horseback in Kerr County. Angelina and Leilani Cain have made multiple trips to the Hill Country flood zone to aid in search and rescue operations.

Social media posts claim Kerr County, an area hit hard by devastating flash floods, rejected the money from the Biden administration.
