Rams rooting guide: Why LA should be pulling for Seahawks
For the Los Angeles Rams, their fate was sealed in Weeks 16 and 17 when they went 0-2 and both the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers went 2-0. They went from holding the No. 1 seed to dropping all the way to third place in their own division and getting locked into a wild-card spot.
Rams tight end Tyler Higbee is expected to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, and Davante Adams and Quentin Lake are on pace to start in the playoffs.
Ersery and Brown should return soon, and the Texans’ offense should be able to get back on track for the playoffs. They don’t have to be a high-flying unit with the closest thing we’ve seen to the Legion of Boom on the other side of the ball. If they can score over 20 points a game, they’re going to be a hard team to beat in the playoffs.
Regardless, head coach Sean McVay has already made his decision: The starters will play in Week 18. This is bold, especially because it risks injury for the most important players on the team, like Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua. But the idea makes sense given the Rams have lost two consecutive games.
AFC North: The Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7) and Baltimore Ravens (8-8) will meet with a playoff berth on the line. The winner becomes the AFC’s No. 4 seed and claims the conference’s final postseason spot, while the loser watches the playoffs from the couch.
Los Angeles still appears to be in the driver’s seat despite a disappointing loss, while San Francisco is riding high following a thrilling victory.
The Atlanta Falcons' upset of the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night continued to muddy the waters in the NFC South. The champion of that division and the AFC North are the only remaining playoff spots open in the NFL heading into the regular-season finale.
