New recorded audio from the early hours of July 4 show what first responders were dealing with as flooding led to the deaths of hundred of people in Kerr County.

After deadly floods swept through Texas Hill Country, Houstonians responded with truckloads of donations, led by a weeklong relief drive from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

As of Tuesday, July 15, a total of 107 bodies have been recovered in Kerr County, 70 adults and 37 children, officials told KSAT 12. Meanwhile, the number of missing stands at 97, the same number Gov. Greg Abbott reported on Monday, July 14. The number is a sharp decrease from the 161 reported missing in Kerr County alone.

In both a feat of incredible strength and endurance and a show of support for those suffering in the wake of devastating floods in Central Texas, a man laced up his shoes on Monday and ran until Tuesday evening.

As the water rises, so does the Kerr County community, especially one man who reunited a brother and sister, swept away in the flood.

With 101 people still missing after the July 4 flash flood, the focus turns to local lakes, and what may be buried in them.

The Kerr County Commissioners Court discussed installing early warning sirens as early as 2015, after a deadly flood on Memorial Day. To date, it still has not done so.

In Kerr County, where the most deaths occurred, officials said they were receiving threats, even as they continued to deflect questions about flood warnings.
