MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo.– A female adult black bear in Yellowstone National Park was euthanized on Friday after "concerning incidents" around becoming food-conditioned at a backcountry campsite, national park officials said. According to the NPS, the bear crushed an empty tent at a campsite at the beginning of June.

An adult female black bear has been lethally removed from Yellowstone National Park after becoming conditioned to human food, marking the first bear euthanized in the park for this reason in 5 years.

A black bear was killed in a management action for the first time since 2020 after eating food storage near Blacktail Deer Creek.
