At least 18 people have been arrested in connection with protests outside Epping's Bell Hotel, which have spiralled into violent clashes.

A ring of steel has been put up around a four-star hotel in London’s Canary Wharf ahead of the prospective arrival of migrants.

Protesters gathered outside the four-star hotel over the past few days to voice their concerns at the reported decision to house migrants at the Canary Wharf venue.

Footage from the scenes after the second protest on Thursday 17 July shows rioters attacking police vans, with one man appearing to be struck by a vehicle that was attempting to navigate the crowds. Eight police officers were injured following what again started as a peaceful protest outside the hotel.
