A rare tsunami warning was issued for part of Alaska’s coast after a magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck near Sand Point in the Aleutian Islands. A small tsunami wave was measured at Sand Point, Alaska.
The giant earthquake was recorded at 12:37 p.m. local time, southeast of Sand Point, a community located on Popof Island in the Aleutian Chain.
A 7.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Alaska has resulted in parts of the coast of the state being put under a tsunami warning, with no risk to B.C.
