Alabama football is in the running for an SEC championship according to the league's preseason media poll. The Crimson Tide had 29 votes as SEC champion behind Texas and Georgia, finishing third in the overall preseason SEC media poll ahead of LSU, South Carolina and Florida.
Eleven different teams got votes to win the SEC championship. Georgia was second with 44 votes, followed by Alabama (29), then LSU (20), South Carolina (5), Oklahoma (3), Vanderbilt (2), Florida (2), Tennessee (1), Ole Miss (1) and Auburn (1). Alabama’s 1st big overtime win led to an SEC championship Jul. 21, 2025, 6:01 a.m.
While OU is just inside the top 10, they ranked 6th in votes to win the SEC Conference Championship. On the player side, a few Sooners earned some SEC preseason honors. Jaydn Ott was a part of the 2025 Preaseason Media Days All-SEC Team. And on defense, R Mason Thomas was nominated for the 2nd team.
